Denise... A 97 ans elle se souvenait de sa déportation !
« Tous les Juifs de Rouen ont été arrêtés, dit-elle. Mon père avait un gros cabinet dentaire dans la rue principale et on ne se cachait pas. Je portais d'ailleurs l'étoile jaune. A l'école, au lycée, j'étais dans le fond de la classe et je n'avais plus le droit de monter sur l'estrade. Mon père qui était un éternel optimiste n'a jamais cru qu'on serait arrêtés. Quand on a été libérés bien sûr qu'on s'en est rendus compte, mais y'avait une telle faiblesse et on avait tellement peur de ne pas pouvoir continuer à vivre ! On était tellement épuisés que je ne peux pas dire que c'était une joie complète. Y'en a beaucoup qui sont morts après. J'avais une diarrhée continuelle nuit et jour et ça a été long avant que je reprenne une vie normale. Je n'arrivais même plus à monter des escaliers et je me retrouvais vite sur les fesses. Avec le typhus on est restés longtemps à Bergen-Belsen, on ne voulait pas qu'on ramène ça ! ».
De ce qu'elle a vécu après avoir été emmenée à Drancy avec son père puis déportée à Auschwitz Denise HOLSTEIN se souvient encore à 97 ans. Un témoignage qui fait froid dans le dos et qui émane ci-dessous de l'un des derniers témoins de l'horreur. Ce qu'elle souhaite aujourd'hui c'est qu'on ne cache plus la vérité mais qu'on parle, qu'on dise ce qui s'est passé et elle, tant qu'elle vivra, elle parlera ! Partout, dans les écoles ou ailleurs.
